Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:
(a) Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting the maintainer of this project.
(f) We have a legitimate interest. Legitimate interests are with respect broader societal benefits. We balance the interests of the senior cubing community against the individuals in the rankings. We carefully consider whether individuals might not reasonably expect this processing, or if it would cause them unjustified harm.
We use the information that we have in order to maintain unofficial rankings for the senior cubing community, produced from official WCA competition results. Your DOB (or partial DOB) is used to identify any applicable results at official WCA competitions.
We will not share your date of birth or email address as we regard them as confidential. Dates of birth and email addresses will be treated as confidential and will not be disclosed to anyone outside of the project team.
We may share statistical information with the WCA or any other responsible organisation in the interests of the senior cubing community but your privacy will always be treated as the highest priority.
Your personal information is stored securely on a personal laptop (development), GitHub (version control) and AWS (production). These environments are protected by two-factor authentication and full disk encryption.
The registration process uses Basin as a backend for your application. They have a clear privacy policy and page relating to GDPR.
We keep your information for as long as your remain a member of the WCA. We will dispose your information via a manual removal process, if your WCA profile is removed.
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your information in certain circumstances.
Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.
Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
